As the world unites to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child, Aarebirin Hon. Princess Dr. Folashade Olabanji-Oba has delivered a heartfelt message urging everyone to renew their commitment toward empowering and protecting the girl child.
The renowned leader, humanitarian, and advocate for women’s inclusion reminded the world that every girl represents a promise — a future of strength, creativity, and leadership waiting to be nurtured.
“Every girl deserves the freedom to dream, the right to education, and the safety to thrive,” she said. “When we invest in girls, we invest in humanity’s progress — because empowered girls grow into women who build stronger nations.”
Aarebirin Hon. Princess Dr. Folashade Olabanji-Oba has been at the forefront of initiatives that promote education, mentorship, and skill development for girls and young women. Her work through community programs and foundations continues to break barriers and create safe spaces for girls to rise with confidence and dignity.
She emphasized that the future of Nigeria — and indeed, the world — depends on how society treats its girls today.
“We must continue to mentor, educate, and inspire our girls,” she added. “When we empower one girl, we lift an entire generation. Let’s create a world where no girl feels invisible or unheard.”
The International Day of the Girl Child, observed every October 11, serves as a global reminder of the challenges young girls face, from limited access to education and technology to gender-based violence and inequality. Princess Olabanji-Oba’s message resonates deeply with this year’s global call for inclusion, innovation, and leadership among girls.
As a role model, she continues to inspire countless young women to lead with courage, compassion, and purpose — embodying the true spirit of empowerment.
