No fewer than 415 residents of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Zone 4 receive free medical care at the 4th Optimal Wellness Outreach
For many residents of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, a hospital visit is weighed against rent, school fees and the next meal. Yesterday, 17th October 2026, that calculation changed for at least 415 of them.
The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), under the leadership of Executive Chairman Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, held the 4th edition of its Free Optimal Wellness Outreach at LG Primary School, Baiyeku. More than 415 residents were screened, examined, treated given drugs, eye glasses and counselled at no cost.
Several medical professionals attended to the people, offering general consultation, blood pressure, blood sugar/hepatitis b test, eye test, malaria testing, and free medication].
The turnout of council leadership showed how seriously the administration treats the programme. Present were the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Olowu; the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Oduntan Qudus; the Councillor representing Ward C2, Hon. Hakeem Solawon; the Councillor representing Ward C3, Hon. Saidat Adeoba Odeyemi; and other members of the Chairman’s cabinet and excos.
The Zonal Chairman, Mr. A. Adelaja, commended the HOA-lead Administration for being proactive and intentional in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people. He also thanked Hon. Saidat Adeoba Odeyemi, the Councillor representing the ward, for her selflessness.
“This is really good. For a long time, we haven’t felt government this way. We are receiving medical attention that costs a lot of money in our community. We are happy and proud of the government and the leadership of our LCDA,” said Mabogaje Dewunmi, one of those treated.
A single outreach can be an event. A fourth edition is a pattern, and a pattern is a policy. By returning to the people again and again, the HOA-lead Administration has shown that wellness is part of its governance agenda and not a one-off gesture.
In a country where preventable conditions such as hypertension and diabetes often go undetected until they become emergencies, early screening saves lives and spares families the financial ruin of late-stage treatment.
415 is a statistic until you picture it: 415 people who left knowing something about their health they did not know that morning, some with medication in hand, some with a referral that could change their outcome, all with proof that their local government sees them.
“A healthy community is a productive community. Our people deserve quality healthcare without the burden of cost, and we will keep bringing it to their doorstep.”
