
QuickGist Media reports that the Olori-Odo of Ijora/Iganmu Kingdom, Alhaji (Chief) Rilwan Olawale Yekin (popularly known as Cooler), has empowered over 200 students with free General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms across several Lagos communities.
Beneficiaries were drawn from Apapa LG, Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, Coker-Aguda LCDA, Surulere LG, Itire-Ikate LG, Ajeromi LG, and Ifelodun LCDA.
Speaking to QuickGist Media, Alhaji Rilwan explained that the initiative is part of his long-standing commitment to giving young people the tools to further their education and succeed in life.
“This gesture is about creating opportunities. Education is the foundation of growth, and I will continue to prioritize the aspirations of our youths,” he said.
Prince Tairu Oluwasegun Olaitan (OLAROYAL), Editor of Royal Circle Connect, praised the Olori-Odo’s consistency in championing youth causes, noting his strong support for organizations such as the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos Central Senatorial District, and the National Youth Parliament (NYP).
“Alhaji Rilwan’s commitment goes far beyond donations. He has shown that when leaders invest in youths, they invest in the future of the kingdom and the nation,” Prince Olaitan told QuickGist Media.
Beneficiaries Express Gratitude
Some of the student beneficiaries also spoke to QuickGist Media with heartfelt appreciation.
- Esther, one of the recipients, said: “My parents could not afford to buy me a GCE form, but thanks to Alhaji Rilwan, I now have the chance to further my education. I am so grateful.”
- Abdul-Lateef added: “This support means a lot to me. It has lifted a burden off my family and given me hope to chase my dreams.”
- Favour shared her excitement: “I never thought I could sit for the GCE this year, but this opportunity has changed everything. God bless him.”
Parents were not left out. Mrs. Adeola, a mother of one of the beneficiaries, told QuickGist Media:
“This man is truly a blessing to the good people of Ojora. Many families would have been stranded without this support. We appreciate him deeply.”

The presentation event was attended by top youth leaders and stakeholders, including Hon. (Barr) Thelmah Obadiah, Senatorial Leader of Lagos Central Youth Parliament; Comrade Prince Hameed, Vice Chairman NYCN Lagos Central; Comrade Tayo Arowoigba, Deputy Coordinator NYCN Apapa LG; Comrade Folakemi Olayiwola, Legal Adviser NYCN Apapa Chapter, and many others.
Beneficiaries and parents applauded the Olori-Odo for investing in the future of the kingdom through education, describing the gesture as life-changing.
