The All APC Women Support Group (AAWSG) lit up the political space once again as it hosted its Southwest Summit—a grand event that blended dialogue, recognition, and celebration of women’s impact in leadership.
With the theme “Empowering Women for Political Leadership & Grassroots Impact,” the summit drew together women leaders, political stakeholders, and party faithfuls across the region. It became a rallying point for inclusivity, growth, and the elevation of women’s voices in governance.
One of the proudest moments was the launch of the AAWSG Magazine, a publication dedicated to spotlighting women’s achievements, sharing inspiring stories, and promoting political education. The evening also shone with an award ceremony, where women who have distinguished themselves in leadership and service were honored.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Bimbo Okpere, DG AAWSG, declared: “We stand fully behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. He has done wonderfully well—development is everywhere, and people can feel the impact. The President has included more women and youth than ever before, though the ratio is still low. That is why this summit is important—to teach our women to position themselves, not just as followers, but as decision-makers.”
In her own remarks, Aarebirin Hon. Princess (Dr.) Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Co-Chairperson and National Publicity Secretary of AAWSG, told QuickGist Media: “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is Talk and Do. He fixed Lagos, and we all felt the impact in our communities through education, infrastructure, and the economy and he is now even doing greater as the President of our great country Nigeria. He is doing remarkably well and deserves a second term.”
Aarebirin Hon Princess Dr Folashade Olabanji-Oba is also the Convener and Global Director General of Asiwaju Distinguished Ambassadors Movement ( ADAM).
Adding her voice, Hon. Mrs. Yetunde Sakirat Adesanya, APC Southwest Zonal Women Leader, praised the resilience of women in politics, calling Asiwaju “a leader who has opened doors for women to rise and shine.”
Hon. Dr. Bayo Adefuye, Chairman of Yaba Local Government, echoed the sentiment, describing women as “the pillars of politics.” He added: “Asiwaju Tinubu remains the best leader to strengthen that foundation and ensure women are at the center of political transformation.”
Evang. Funmi Agbaje, a proud award recipient and member of AAWSG, encouraged women to “add both effort and resources into politics if they truly want to benefit from it.” She explained that this has long been “the secret men have used to dominate the political scene.” She also urged youth and more women to participate actively in politics, affirming that “Asiwaju is the best to drive this vision forward.”
Also speaking to QuickGist Media, Hon. Okikiola from Ado Odo described Asiwaju as “the best,” adding that women have already proven their strength in politics, which is why he continues to support them wholeheartedly.
In his remarks, Brigadier B.B. Adewunmi (Rtd.) hailed President Tinubu as “a man of honour and the best leader Nigeria could have at this critical time.” He noted that the President’s bold reforms in infrastructure, economy, and governance reflect uncommon courage and vision, making him not just a political leader but “a statesman of integrity who deserves unwavering support.”
The summit also featured a capacity-building workshop, where women were trained on how to strategically position themselves for leadership—emphasizing decision-making, grassroots engagement, and visibility in politics.
The awards session was handled by H.E. Oluyinka Olumilua who was also Vice Chairperson of this All APC Women Support Group Southwest Summit.
The Southwest Summit 2025, Magazine Launch, and Awards were more than just an event; they marked a turning point. It was a statement that women are ready, not only to participate but to lead—and AAWSG is determined to make it happen victoriously
