Ikorodu was filled with colour, royalty, and celebration as the 10th coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Engr. Dr. AbdulKabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, reached its sixth day.
The day featured the Presentation of the Staff of Office and the Igboye Ceremony, a powerful cultural event reaffirming the monarch’s authority. Friends of the kingdom, traditional rulers, political leaders, and residents all gathered to honour the king who has ruled with peace and progress for a decade.
Honours and Titles
During the ceremony, notable individuals were conferred with prestigious chieftaincy titles for their service to the kingdom:

Voices from the Celebration
Speaking to QuickGist, Mr. Rotimi Erogbogbo, immediate past Chairman of Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS), praised the monarch’s leadership:
“Kabiyesi is a good and lovely man who has brought peace and progress to Ikorodu. Every part of the kingdom has enjoyed good governance under him. I pray for long life and more peaceful years on the throne.”
He also expressed confidence in the new IKODASS Chairman, noting that the association has a strong development structure since its founding in 1992, and he believes the new leader will do even better.
Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, a proud daughter of Ikorodu, also described the king as a leader who always puts his people first, praying for his continued reign and the growth of the kingdom.
A Decade of Impact
Ten years on the throne has seen the Ayangburen strengthen unity, preserve culture, and inspire development across Ikorodu Kingdom. The Day 6 ceremony was more than just a cultural tradition—it was a celebration of a legacy in the making.
