The All APC Women Support Group (AAWSG) on Friday, 26th September 2025, held a press conference at the Prestigious Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, in preparation for the much-anticipated Southwest Summit scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, 27th September 2025.
With the theme “Empowering Women for Political Leadership & Grassroots Impact,” the press conference brought together national and regional leaders of the group to set the tone for the historic summit.
Mrs. Bimbo Okpere (DG, AAWSG)
Speaking at the press briefing, the Director General of AAWSG, Mrs. Bimbo Okpere, emphasized the importance of the summit, noting that “All APC Women Support Groups exist in every state across the federation. This particular summit is dedicated to the Southwest region, and very soon, the Southeast edition will follow.”
She explained that the summit is designed not only to mobilize women but also to train, dialogue, and build stronger engagement with APC women at all levels, preparing them for greater participation in politics and governance.
Mrs. Okpere further praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his remarkable achievements in office, listing the Badagry–Sokoto Road, Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, and Local Government Autonomy reforms among his many accomplishments. She stressed that “President Tinubu has done wonderfully well and deserves a second term.”
She concluded by noting that AAWSG is more than just a support group—it is a movement dedicated to empowering women, promoting inclusiveness, and strengthening APC’s grassroots base across Nigeria.
Dr. Beere Oyenike Saulawa (Chairperson, Southwest Summit)
In her remarks, the Chairperson of the Southwest Summit, Dr. Beere Oyenike Saulawa, explained the purpose of the gathering: “This summit is designed to train and educate APC women across the Southwest. Women are the true pillars of elections, and our active involvement is essential for victory.”

Also addressing the press, Aarebirin Hon. Princess (Dr.) Folashade Olabanji-Oba applauded President Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as “Talk and Do.” She commended his administration for creating more opportunities for youth and women compared to past governments, even while acknowledging that the overall ratio of women to men in politics remains low.
She added: “With Asiwaju and APC’s people-focused policies, more women will be given opportunities to lead. The just-concluded Local Government elections already showed clear evidence that women are being trusted with greater responsibilities. This summit is therefore part of our collective effort to prepare women for more active roles in future leadership and the success of our party.”
The press conference ended with strong assurances that the AAWSG Southwest Summit 2025 will be a defining moment in strengthening women’s voices within the APC and Nigerian politics at large.
