RHODA Youth Centre has once again demonstrated its strong commitment to education and youth development as it successfully hosted an Etiquette Education and Scholarship Programme for public primary school pupils in Ikorodu Local Government Area.
The impactful programme focused on pupils in Primary One, with two pupils selected from each public primary school in Ikorodu LG. The beneficiaries were awarded scholarships that will fully support their education from Basic 1 to Basic 6, easing the financial burden on their families and encouraging uninterrupted learning.
In addition to the scholarships, the selected pupils received essential educational materials, including two pairs of school uniforms, socks, five pencils, twelve exercise books, and school bags—a comprehensive support package aimed at boosting their confidence and readiness for school.
SSA to Lagos State Governor Commends Initiative
The event was graced by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Lagos State Governor, Comrade Biliaminu Oba, who commended the organiser and Convener of the programme, Asiwaju Engr. Rotimi Erogbogbo, for his outstanding charity work through RHODA Youth Centre.
Sharing a personal testimony, Comrade Oba revealed that he was a beneficiary of RHODA Youth Centre over ten years ago, having attended seminars organised by the Centre, which played a significant role in shaping his personal development. He encouraged the pupils to remain focused on their studies and urged parents and teachers to guide them properly, emphasizing that children are the future of tomorrow. He also advised the pupils to always remember and give back to Ikorodu as they grow and succeed in life.
Education Stakeholders Applaud RHODA Youth Centre
Also speaking at the event, Mrs. Rabiu, representing the Education Secretary of Ikorodu Division, praised RHODA Youth Centre for its consistent support for the education sector. She recalled that just weeks earlier, the Centre organised an Etiquette Education programme for teachers, noting that such initiatives help improve pupils’ morality and behaviour in public spaces. She thanked the teachers for their dedication and appreciated RHODA Youth Centre for its continued investment in educational development.
Convener Highlights Importance of Etiquette Education
In his address, the Convener, Asiwaju Engr. Rotimi Erogbogbo, appreciated the Lagos State Government for its efforts in improving the education sector and thanked teachers for their tireless work. He explained that poor behaviour among students is often a result of a lack of proper etiquette education, which negatively affects the community.
He expressed sadness whenever he encounters students exhibiting bad behaviour, noting that this concern inspired RHODA Youth Centre to initiate the etiquette education project alongside the scholarship scheme. According to him, the initiative is not limited to Ikorodu LG alone but extends to the entire Ikorodu Division, with two Primary One pupils selected from each public school, whose scholarships will run from Primary 1 to Primary 6.
Extension of Programme to Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA
Following the Ikorodu LG event, RHODA Youth Centre proceeded to Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, where scholarships were also awarded to two pupils from each public primary school in the area.
The Executive Vice Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Bar. Ade Ayeni, representing the LCDA Chairman, expressed deep appreciation to Asiwaju Engr. Rotimi Erogbogbo and RHODA Youth Centre for the laudable initiative. He acknowledged that RHODA has been in existence for many years and described the scholarship programme as a generous gesture that complements government efforts in education.
He emphasized that children are the heritage of every family and urged parents to take proper care of them. He noted that students who are not well-dressed often lack confidence in class and public spaces, stressing that public school pupils should never feel inferior to those in private schools. He added that many successful Nigerians, including himself and the LCDA Chairman, attended public schools. Remarkably, he stated that the LCDA Chairman once attended the same school and that the very building hosting the event was constructed by the Chairman within 100 days.

The Etiquette Education and Scholarship Programme by RHODA Youth Centre stands as a powerful example of community-driven development, combining moral education with tangible academic support. Through initiatives like this, RHODA Youth Centre continues to shape disciplined, confident, and educated young leaders for Ikorodu and beyond.
