The Ikorodu Local Government has marked the first anniversary of the administration of Executive Chairman, Prince Abdul-Lateef Adedayo Ladega, with a free medical outreach aimed at improving access to basic healthcare for residents.
Speaking during the programme, Prince Ladega said the outreach was part of the administration’s way of appreciating residents for their support over the past 365 days.
He attributed the council’s ability to undertake various developmental projects partly to the increase in allocations to local governments, which he said has provided more resources for grassroots development.
According to him, the administration places healthcare among its priorities, particularly the wellbeing of elderly residents. The medical outreach offered services including blood pressure and blood sugar checks, tuberculosis testing, eye screening and free glasses.
The Vice Chairman, Hon. Babalwale Bisiriyu Alogba, commended the chairman for his achievements within one year, highlighting progress in infrastructure, healthcare, education and human development.
Also speaking, the APC Chairman, Alhaji Waheed Animashaun, described the chairman’s achievements as significant, citing road construction and other projects across the local government.
Hon. Babatunde Shotomiwa highlighted the administration’s road projects, efforts to strengthen security and attention to workers’ welfare. He also noted the completion of 30 boreholes across Ikorodu Local Government.
The Council Manager, Savage Olubode, appreciated stakeholders, medical personnel and residents who participated in the outreach, while expressing gratitude to the chairman for the initiative.
The event further showcased the administration’s focus on healthcare and grassroots development as it begins its second year in office.
