IKORODU, LAGOS — Residents and community stakeholders across Ikorodu Division have continued to commend the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, citing his food support programme, infrastructure projects, empowerment initiatives and other interventions as evidence of active representation.
The latest commendations were made during the August edition of the Apo Anu monthly food-pack distribution, organised through the Babajimi Benson iCare Foundation.
The programme provides food packages to constituents, particularly elderly persons, widows, vulnerable families and other residents in need of support.
Beneficiaries at the event expressed appreciation to the lawmaker, saying the regular intervention has provided relief to many households and demonstrated continued attention to the welfare of constituents.
Benson Targets 250,000 Votes for Tinubu
Speaking at the programme, Rep. Benson recalled the support received by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ikorodu during the 2023 presidential election.
According to him, Ikorodu Federal Constituency recorded more than 60,000 votes for President Tinubu, which he described as the highest number recorded for the President in Nigeria.
Looking towards 2027, Benson said the objective is to increase the figure significantly, setting a target of 250,000 votes for President Tinubu from Ikorodu Division.
The lawmaker also announced plans for a mega empowerment programme, which he said would benefit residents across the constituency.
Eko 57 Recognises Impact
The event also witnessed a visit by members of Eko 57 LG.
The group’s Convener, Lege Miami, praised Rep. Benson’s performance, describing him as one of the public representatives translating the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu into practical interventions at the grassroots.
He pointed to the lawmaker’s various projects and social programmes as examples of efforts aimed at improving the lives of residents.
Similarly, Yomi Fash-Lanso, an Executive Member of Eko 57, described Benson as a representative who has remained accessible to his constituents and consistent with programmes that directly affect the people.
Imota Chairman Highlights Development Projects
The Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Sunday Benson, also used the occasion to acknowledge the federal lawmaker’s interventions in Imota.
He specifically mentioned the 80-bed hospital project, road construction and other developmental initiatives, saying the impact of the lawmaker’s representation can be seen across the LCDA.
He expressed gratitude to Rep. Benson for his continued interest in the development of Imota and said residents look forward to additional interventions.
Oshin: Benson Has Done Wonders Across Ikorodu
Former Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Gbenga Oshin, described Benson as a representative who has remained committed to the development of the division.
Oshin highlighted the approval by President Tinubu for the Pacific Road project and the proposed flyover, among other developments, as significant achievements linked to the constituency.
He said Benson’s various interventions have contributed to addressing infrastructure and development needs across Ikorodu.
Residents Recall Community-Level Impact
The impact of the interventions was also highlighted by residents from different parts of the division.
A resident from Isiwu appreciated Benson on behalf of elderly beneficiaries of his solar intervention, saying the beneficiaries were grateful for the support.
She also recounted how one of her siblings, who is battling cancer, received assistance from Rep. Benson. According to her, the family remains grateful for the support.
In Ikorodu North LCDA, resident Samuel Ojo praised the road projects linking Adamo to Araro, as well as the intervention in Agbede.
He said the projects were implemented despite the difficult terrain in some areas and have helped improve transportation and connectivity for residents.
A resident of Ward D, Ikorodu West LCDA, also highlighted the Otunubi Road project, recalling the difficulties residents previously faced in accessing the community.
The resident said the area was once difficult for tricycles and other vehicles to reach, but the road intervention has significantly improved accessibility and opened up the community.
More Than Food Distribution
The various testimonies came from residents and stakeholders across Ikorodu Local Government, Ikorodu North, Ikorodu West, Ijede, Imota and Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCdAs.
While the Apo Anu programme remains one of the foundation’s regular welfare interventions, residents also pointed to road construction, solar lighting, healthcare facilities, empowerment programmes and other constituency projects as areas where they have experienced the impact of the lawmaker’s representation.
For many beneficiaries, the interventions represent more than political promises, with residents describing them as practical projects and programmes that address everyday needs within their communities.
As the Apo Anu initiative continues, supporters and beneficiaries say the programme has become a recurring source of assistance while the broader constituency interventions continue to shape communities across Ikorodu Division.
