ILE-IFE, OSUN STATE — Aarebirin Hon. Princess Dr. Folashade Olabanji-Oba has been honoured with the prestigious Akoni Oodua Heroine Hall of Fame Award 2026, in recognition of her remarkable contributions, leadership and service to society.
The award ceremony was held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the Historical Hall, Ile-Nla, Ooni Palace, Ile-Ife, Osun State, with His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, as the Grand Host.
A Recognition of Service and Leadership
Speaking to the media after receiving the award, Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba expressed her profound appreciation to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, for the honour.
She described the recognition as an encouragement to continue serving humanity and contributing to the development of Yorubaland.
She pledged to do more in promoting initiatives that will positively impact the lives of the people, particularly through leadership, community development and service.
Olabanji-Oba Commends Tinubu’s Administration
The award recipient also used the opportunity to call on Nigerians to acknowledge what she described as the achievements of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She expressed confidence that the President would do more for Nigerians, pointing to developments and reforms in different sectors as evidence of the administration’s efforts.
Among the areas she highlighted were local government autonomy, road infrastructure, education sector reforms and economic reforms, while also noting what she described as the absence of the prolonged ASUU strike.
She urged Nigerians to remain supportive of the administration as it continues to implement its programmes.
Appreciates Princess Sandra Oladele Williams
Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba also commended Princess Sandra Oladele Williams, South West Zonal Coordinator of the Tinubu Torch Bearers, for her leadership and commitment.
She appreciated her efforts and described her leadership as an important contribution to the mobilisation and promotion of the Renewed Hope agenda.
A Woman of Multiple Leadership Responsibilities
Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba currently serves as:
- Honourable Commissioner, Lagos State Local Government Service Commission
- Global Director-General/Convener, Asiwaju Distinguished Ambassadors Movement for Renewed Hope (ADAM-FRD)
- National Coordinator/Convener, Amazon Progressive Development for Renewed Hope (APD-FRD)
- Chairperson, APC Amazons
- Director of Women Affairs, Tinubu Torch Bearers
Through these various roles, she has remained actively involved in public service, grassroots engagement, women mobilisation and initiatives promoting development and the Renewed Hope agenda.
The Akoni Oodua Heroine Hall of Fame Award 2026 therefore represents another recognition of her contributions and leadership, while providing an opportunity for her to reaffirm her commitment to service and the development of society.
