The atmosphere at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat was filled with excitement and high expectations on Monday, July 28, 2025, as Hon. Prince Abdul-Lateef Abayomi Adedayo Ladega officially resumed office as the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, alongside his Executive Vice Chairman, Hon. Babawale Alogba Bisiriyu.
Their resumption of office marks the beginning of a new era following the successful completion of tenure by the immediate past chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina. Hon. Ladega and Hon. Alogba were warmly welcomed by council management staff, political appointees, and party stakeholders, who gathered to show their support and solidarity.
Shortly after resumption, the newly inaugurated executives embarked on a tour of the council secretariat, engaging with various departments to assess the state of facilities and meet with civil servants and administrative heads. The tour, which reflected their readiness to hit the ground running, was both evaluative and symbolic — sending a clear message that development and accountability will be top priorities.
Addressing the press and audience at the council premises, Hon. Babawale Alogba Bisiriyu, speaking on behalf of his principal, reaffirmed their joint commitment to continuity, improvement, and people-centered governance:
“We assumed office today to meet the management and entire workforce of Ikorodu Local Government — both civil and non-civil servants. We’re here to continue from where our predecessors stopped because government is a continuum,” he said.
On the administration’s vision, Hon. Alogba highlighted key areas of focus:
- Education: The new leadership plans to enhance public schools across the local government through improved infrastructure, introduction of solar energy, better staffing, provision of ICT tools, and promotion of computer-based learning to better prepare students for future academic challenges.
- Security: The team has already met with key security agencies and community leaders to initiate strategies aimed at improving the safety and protection of lives and property across Ikorodu.
- Health: The administration plans to upgrade primary health care centers, ensure adequate staffing, and provide welfare support for health workers to improve service delivery.
- Markets and Sports Development: Plans are underway to renovate existing markets and expand sporting activities to engage youths productively and foster local talent.
Hon. Alogba emphasized that their goal is to “do the greatest good for the greatest number”, in line with the values and promises made during the campaign.
“We thank the people of Ikorodu for trusting us. On behalf of my chairman, we promise to give our very best. Prince Ladega is an action man — and together, we are ready to take Ikorodu to greater heights.”
As the new administration begins its journey, residents of Ikorodu are hopeful that the synergy between the executive chairman and his vice will translate into effective leadership, rapid development, and a more inclusive local governance.
