Adekunle Aderoju has emerged as the Leader of the Agboyi-Ketu Legislative Council following the official inauguration of the legislative house by the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Mrs) Adetola Oyedele Abubakar.
The ceremony, held at the council secretariat, brought together party leaders, councillors, stakeholders, residents, and members of the press, all united by a shared vision of a more progressive and inclusive Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
In her remarks, Hon. Adetola expressed heartfelt appreciation to the people of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA for the mandate given to her and the councillors. She described the moment as not just a personal milestone, but a new beginning for the entire LCDA. She thanked political leaders, community members, and all who supported her journey to office. She congratulated the newly sworn-in councillors, urging them to see themselves not just as representatives, but as true voices of the people. She reminded them of the need to listen to their wards, protect their rights, and push for visible development.
She emphasized that leadership is not about position, but about service — built on integrity, transparency, and dedication. She called for unity and hard work, encouraging everyone to put personal interests aside and focus on the progress of Agboyi-Ketu.
Speaking with the media after the inauguration, Hon. Adetola charged all councillors to get to work immediately. She stated that this is not a time for delay, but for action. She made it clear that her administration, along with the vice chairman and the seven councillors, is ready to deliver meaningful projects and impactful governance to every ward. She appealed to residents to support the government and play their role in community building.
She reaffirmed her commitment to the administration’s Eight-Point Agenda, which includes education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment, inclusive governance, social welfare, environmental sustainability, and community security. She promised that every resident will feel the impact of governance, from improved schools and quality healthcare to better roads and support for vulnerable groups.
In his acceptance speech, Adekunle Aderoju, the new Council Leader, appreciated his fellow councillors for the trust placed in him. He pledged to lead the house with focus, fairness, and discipline. He promised that the legislative arm will be active, responsive, and in full partnership with the executive to move Agboyi-Ketu forward.
He assured residents that the legislative house will not be silent but will serve as a strong and constructive voice for all communities under Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
Hon. Adetola closed by urging all leaders and residents to work together for peace, development, and the future of the LCDA. “We are here to serve,” she said. “Let’s build something that generations after us will be proud of.”
