It was a moment of honour and renewed purpose as Princess Basirat Adetutu Banjoko was officially named the Leader of the 6th Legislative House in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
The inauguration of the new legislative team saw the emergence of key officers set to work in synergy with the executive arm of the local council. Hon. Hakeem Sholawon took the position of Deputy Leader, Hon. Habeeb Anifowoshe became the Majority Leader, Hon. Saidat Adeoba was named Chief Whip, while Hon. Yusuf stepped in as Deputy Majority Leader.
In her acceptance remarks, Princess Banjoko reflected on the collaborative spirit that brought about their electoral victory. She paid tribute to her colleagues, party stalwarts, and the revered traditional rulers whose support and guidance paved the way.
She assured residents that the new legislative arm under her leadership will be people-driven and fully committed to the development vision of the Chairman, Hon. Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun. According to her, the 6th Assembly will act as a strong pillar, working hand-in-hand with the executive to make meaningful progress across the wards.
Calling for continuous community engagement, Princess Banjoko encouraged constituents to communicate directly with their councillors, emphasizing that governance thrives best when leaders listen to the people.
Reacting to the legislative appointments, Executive Chairman Hon. Hammed Aroyewun congratulated the newly elected leaders and reaffirmed his belief in their capabilities. He described the new house leadership as competent and purpose-driven, and pledged his administration’s full support in the journey ahead.
As both arms of government settle into their new roles, the message is clear: service delivery, transparency, and people-focused representation will be the compass guiding Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA into its next phase of transformation.
