Concerned APC Members Raise Alarm Over Controversial Ward Exco List in Surulere
Concerned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Surulere Local Government Area have expressed deep concern over the recently circulated Ward Executive lists, describing the development as a serious threat to the unity and stability of the party.
According to the members, despite ongoing consultations and efforts aimed at strengthening the APC at the grassroots, certain individuals appear to be working contrary to that goal by allegedly using the name of the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, to legitimize questionable actions.
They emphasized that Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila is a man of integrity, known for building loyalty and promoting fairness within the party, and would never endorse actions capable of causing division or discontent among members of the APC family in Surulere or Lagos State at large.
The aggrieved members noted that Wards F1, F2, F3, and several others within Surulere have been affected by the development, warning that it could have far-reaching implications on the overall party structure in the state. They further recalled that a similar undemocratic process was used during the selection of the Councillor for Ward F1, a situation that left many loyal party members aggrieved — a mistake they vowed not to tolerate again.
They also referenced remarks made by former Lagos State Governor and former Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, at a recent event, where he emphasized the need for fairness, justice, and a working reward system within the APC. The group lamented that current developments run contrary to that principle, and could undermine members’ confidence in the party’s internal democratic values.
The concerned members therefore called on party elders, leaders, and stakeholders at all levels to urgently wade into the matter to ensure transparency, inclusion, and fairness in order to safeguard unity and discipline within the APC family in Surulere and Lagos State.
