The Executive Chairman of , Hon. (Otunba) Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, has officially flagged off Project S.K.O. (Special Kare for the Old) with the presentation of ATM cards to elderly beneficiaries across the council area.
The programme, held at the Council Secretariat Hall, marked the beginning of a monthly support initiative aimed at improving the welfare of senior citizens through a secure and transparent payment system backed by NIN and BVN verification.
Speaking at the event, commended the Chairman for prioritizing the wellbeing of the elderly, describing him as “a political son in whom I am well pleased.”
Also speaking, Apex Leader Dr. Fatai Olukoga compared the initiative to social welfare systems in developed countries, urging beneficiaries to use the stipends for feeding, medication, and essential needs.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including former Commissioner for Local Government Hon. Lanre Balogun, Vice Chairman Hon. Adesegun Aluko, Council Manager Engr. Rotimi Okunowo, Leader of the House Hon. Enitan Jessica Oba, APC Chairman Otunba Bayo Lawson, supervisory councillors, CDC executives, management staff, and other party stakeholders.
In his remarks, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju revealed that the initiative was inspired during his visit to Senator Ogunlewe.
“Our elders laid the foundation, today we are building their comfort. This project is designed to reduce the burden on families and ensure our aged citizens receive proper care and support,” he stated.
Beneficiaries at the event expressed appreciation to the council chairman for the initiative.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Risikat Adebayo, described the programme as a major relief.
“This support will really help people like us with food and drugs. We appreciate the Chairman for remembering the elderly,” she said.
Another beneficiary, Pa Sule Ajayi, also praised the initiative, noting that many elderly residents had been struggling with daily expenses.
“This is the first time many of us are witnessing this kind of direct support. May God continue to bless the Chairman,” he added.
With the successful distribution of ATM cards, beneficiaries are expected to begin receiving their monthly stipends under the Project S.K.O. initiative.
