ILE-IFE, OSUN STATE — Hon. Mrs. Sandra Kiridi Lokpobiri has been honoured with the prestigious Akoni Oodua Heroine Hall of Fame Award 2026, in recognition of her contributions, service to humanity and positive impact on society.
The distinguished award was presented at the Ooni Palace, Ile-Ife, Osun State, with His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, serving as the Grand Host.
Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Mrs. Lokpobiri has over the years been involved in various activities and initiatives aimed at contributing to the wellbeing and development of society.
She is also the wife of Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil).
A Celebration of Service
The Akoni Oodua Heroine Hall of Fame Award celebrates women who have distinguished themselves through leadership, service, humanitarian activities and contributions to their communities and society at large.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mrs. Lokpobiri expressed her appreciation to the organisers and, particularly, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, for the honour.
She described the recognition as a great privilege and an encouragement to continue contributing her quota to society.
“I am deeply honoured and grateful to His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, for this recognition. I sincerely appreciate the organisers for considering me worthy of this prestigious award. It is an honour that comes with greater responsibility to continue serving humanity and making a positive difference.”
Mrs. Lokpobiri also expressed appreciation to everyone who has supported her journey and contributed to the various initiatives she has been associated with.
She noted that recognition such as the Akoni Oodua Heroine Hall of Fame Award should encourage more women to remain committed to service, compassion and community development.
The award, she added, would serve as a reminder that every effort made towards improving the lives of others matters.
The ceremony brought together distinguished personalities, women leaders, community stakeholders and other guests to celebrate the achievements and contributions of outstanding women.
For Mrs. Lokpobiri, the honour marks another milestone in her journey of service and reinforces her commitment to making meaningful contributions to society.
