
Youths of Ikorodu Endorse Senator Abiru, Rep. Babajimi Benson in Massive Show of Support
Youth leaders, student representatives, and community stakeholders across Ikorodu Division have declared strong support for Senator Adetokunbo Abiru and Honourable Babajimi Benson, endorsing both lawmakers for their developmental strides and sustained commitment to grassroots progress.
The endorsement was made during a stakeholders’ press conference and youth gathering held at the Ikorodu Town Hall, where youth organisations, student union bodies, voluntary groups, and political stakeholders came together to appreciate the range of projects and interventions delivered across Lagos East Senatorial District and Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
The atmosphere was filled with commendations and testimonies as speakers highlighted the visible impact of both leaders in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, technology advancement, and community support initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Comrade Jackson described Senator Abiru and Honourable Benson as leaders who have moved beyond political promises to measurable, people-focused results across Ikorodu Division.
He noted that the youths deemed it important to publicly recognize leaders who consistently deliver impactful projects and remain accessible to their constituents.
He listed several interventions credited to Hon. Babajimi Benson, including road construction, installation of transformers and solar-powered streetlights, school and healthcare facility development, ICT hubs, youth employment schemes, scholarships, and empowerment programmes.
Comrade Jackson further stated that these initiatives have significantly improved healthcare delivery, security, education, and economic opportunities within the constituency.
The President of the Students’ Union Government of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Comrade David Oluwasegun Gabriel, also commended Senator Abiru for his strong support for education and student development.
He highlighted the installation of over 200 solar-powered streetlights within the institution, support for student initiatives, and the establishment of a modern innovation laboratory for tech training and digital empowerment.
He added that the Senator’s interventions in healthcare, scholarships, community development, and youth-focused programmes have positively impacted thousands of students and residents across Ikorodu.
The SUG President also praised Hon. Babajimi Benson for key infrastructural developments around school environments, particularly road construction within the Odoguyan axis, and improvements to healthcare facilities in Igbo-Olomu and surrounding communities.
Other youth leaders and stakeholders also delivered goodwill messages at the gathering.
Comrade Kuku Tosin, representing persons living with disabilities in Ikorodu West, appreciated Senator Abiru for inclusive empowerment programmes and consistent support for vulnerable groups.
Comrade Soyiga Samuel Adeshina commended the Senator’s accessibility and responsiveness to youths and residents, describing him as a leader who listens.
Comrade Olorunbe Boluwatiwi Islamiat also praised Senator Abiru for supporting young people regardless of political or social background.
Comrade Waliu Adeyeri described Hon. Babajimi Benson as “Mr. Light” due to the widespread deployment of solar-powered streetlights across communities in Ikorodu Division.
The event attracted youth coordinators, student leaders, legislative aides, NYCN executives, IKODASS representatives, and other community stakeholders from across the division.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to supporting leaders whose projects continue to positively impact students, youths, traders, and residents, while calling for sustained development and inclusive governance moving forward.
