‘OUR FARMS WILL SMILE AGAIN’ – IKORODU FARMERS HAIL PRESIDENT TINUBU, REP. BABAJIMI BENSON AS 500 RECEIVE FREE FERTILISERS
Hope was rekindled among farming communities across Ikorodu Federal Constituency on Friday as over 500 farmers received 50kg bags of fertiliser through a Federal Government agricultural support programme facilitated by the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson.

The intervention, implemented under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, drew beneficiaries from the six Local Government and Local Council Development Areas that make up the federal constituency, with many describing the support as a major boost ahead of the farming season.
For several of the beneficiaries, the programme represented more than the distribution of fertiliser. It was a practical response to the rising cost of agricultural inputs, offering renewed confidence that food production can be sustained despite prevailing economic challenges.
Speaking during the exercise, the Director-General of Jimi Benson’s iCare Foundation and Executive Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), Mayor Deen Sanwoola, who represented Rep. Babajimi Benson, said the lawmaker remains committed to ensuring that Ikorodu farmers continually benefit from programmes of the Federal Government aimed at improving agricultural productivity.

Mayor Sanwoola noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has consistently identified agriculture as a strategic sector for national development, adding that Rep. Benson has remained intentional about bringing such interventions directly to the people of Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
According to him, supporting farmers is one of the most effective ways to strengthen local economies, reduce the cost of food production and improve household livelihoods.
“Our farmers are indispensable partners in national development. By ensuring they have access to critical inputs like fertilisers, we are not only supporting individual farmers but investing in food sufficiency, economic resilience and the prosperity of our communities. Rep. Babajimi Benson will continue to pursue programmes that improve the lives of our people while complementing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
He also urged beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity by putting the fertilisers to productive use, expressing optimism that the intervention would translate into higher yields and greater food availability across the constituency.
The distribution was greeted with excitement as beneficiaries took turns to express appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rep. Babajimi Benson for what they described as a thoughtful intervention at a critical period for farmers.
One of the beneficiaries said the fertiliser support would significantly reduce production costs and enable many farmers to cultivate larger portions of their farmland this season.
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Vivian Adewole, described Rep. Benson as a representative who remains deeply connected to the realities confronting ordinary people.

She observed that the federal lawmaker has consistently demonstrated an understanding of the needs of different segments of society through interventions in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, food support and agriculture.
According to her, programmes such as the fertiliser distribution have continued to strengthen public confidence that the Renewed Hope Agenda is producing tangible benefits at the grassroots.
Many beneficiaries also applauded the transparent selection process, noting that farmers from different communities across Ikorodu Federal Constituency were fairly represented in the programme.
They concluded by offering prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rep. Babajimi Benson while expressing optimism that sustained agricultural support of this nature would boost food production, improve farmers’ incomes and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s drive towards food security.
The intervention further reinforces Rep. Babajimi Benson’s sustained commitment to connecting the people of Ikorodu Federal Constituency with impactful Federal Government initiatives, while ensuring that agriculture remains a key driver of economic growth, community development and shared prosperity.
