
Hon. Toyin Gafaar Shakirudeen Bolowotan has formally announced his bid to represent Ikorodu Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly under the banner of the (APC).
At his declaration event, Bolowotan addressed a broad audience that included party stakeholders, traditional authorities, religious leaders, and members of the Ikorodu community. He explained that his aspiration is anchored on a bold vision he describes as “A Greater Ikorodu,” centered on people-oriented policies, youth empowerment, community development, and sustainable growth.
He stressed that legislative responsibility goes beyond making laws, highlighting the importance of quality representation, effective oversight, and ensuring that policies translate into real benefits for the people. He called on party leaders and stakeholders to support his ambition, seeking their endorsement as the APC’s flag bearer for the constituency.
Bolowotan also used the occasion to rally support for key figures within the party, including President , Dr. , Senator , and Honourable .
In recognition of political mentorship and leadership, he acknowledged notable figures such as Prince , Senator , and , praising their contributions to the growth of both the party and Ikorodu.
The declaration attracted strong endorsements from influential stakeholders. Former APC LGA Chairman in Ikorodu, Alhaji R.I. Jinadu, openly declared his support, describing Bolowotan as a competent and experienced leader with a solid track record. He added that many stakeholders are already backing his candidacy behind the scenes.
Also speaking, former Vice Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Sesan Dada, expressed confidence in Bolowotan’s ability to deliver, citing his experience, political reach, and deep understanding of grassroots dynamics.
In additional interviews, Mrs. Ayoola Kehinde from Adamo Isiu described Bolowotan as “tested and trusted,” affirming her confidence in his leadership capacity.
Kareen Johnson also praised Bolowotan’s impact on youth development, recounting how his brother participated in the Bolowotan Gold Cup and eventually secured an opportunity with a football club in Europe. He commended Bolowotan for empowering countless young people across Ikorodu and Lagos State.
Bolowotan’s track record in sports development was also highlighted. As former Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, he played a key role in discovering and nurturing young talents, including , whom he identified at the age of 12. Today, Kuti represents Nigeria on the global stage in table tennis, reflecting the long-term impact of Bolowotan’s youth-focused initiatives.
With growing endorsements and visible grassroots support, momentum continues to build around Bolowotan’s ambition to represent Ikorodu Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
