Political stakeholders in Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have firmly opposed what they describe as an emerging third-term agenda in Epe Constituency II, pledging to resist any move that undermines the long-standing rotational agreement between Eredo and Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDAs.
While acknowledging that the constitution permits individuals to contest for elective offices, the leaders stressed that any ambition that disregards existing political arrangements within the constituency would not be accepted.
In a strongly worded statement, the stakeholders raised concerns over the reported third-term bid by the incumbent, warning that such a move could disrupt the established political balance, weaken internal party agreements, and create an unhealthy precedent in Epe Constituency II.
They reiterated the importance of respecting the existing rotational understanding between Eredo and Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDAs, noting that it has been key to ensuring fairness, equity, and inclusive representation over the years.
According to the leaders, no individual should monopolize political opportunities at the expense of others. They maintained that it is now the turn of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA to produce the next representative for the House of Assembly seat in the 2027 elections.
The stakeholders also called on party leadership and relevant authorities to uphold both constitutional provisions and internal agreements guiding tenure, candidacy, and the overall electoral process.
Reaffirming their commitment to the collective interest of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, the leaders vowed to mobilize against any third-term agenda that contradicts the will of the people.
They further urged party members and residents of Epe Constituency II to stay vigilant and support efforts that promote transparency, accountability, and fairness in the political system.
